Live Video Collage
performance with assorted objects and live video feed (variable dimensions)

Live Video Collage is a performance piece involving assorted objects, a monitor and/or projector, and a table. The artist is
sitting at a table with a box/suitcase filled with unique objects. Some of the objects are antiquated and worn, others are
organic: bones, leaves, fruit, etc. Using a hand-held video camera, the performer begins to investigate the items in a manner
that a blind person may touch an object in order to establish its place. As the artist observes the objects by touch, the viewer
sees them through the lens of the camera. The juxtaposition of the objects on the table with the objects on the screen presents
a disjunct reality. The items are magnified by the lens, offering a visceral experience of the artifacts in the hands of the
artist. As the objects are collaged together as moving images, an improvised story begins to take place.
